Itinerary

Day 1: Hometown Canada - Beijing

Depart from Canada to Beijing.

 

Day 2: Beijing

Upon arrival in Beijing you'll be met by your Beijing guide and transferred to your hotel.

Hotel: 5* Oriental Bay Hotel or similar

 

Day 3: Beijing

This morning you'll take a stroll around Tiananmen Square - The gateway to the Imperial Palace surrounding with monuments and government edifices. The Imperial Palace - the "Forbidden City" - the sequestered world of China's last emperor. After lunch your tour coach will then take you off to the Summer Palace where you will get a good view on a boat ride of Kunming Lake. This evening you will feast on a Peking Duck Dinner. (B/L/D)

 

Day 4: Beijing

Head to the northwest of Beijing The Great Will. After lunch, visit one of the thirteen Ming Tombs laid out in a valley north of Beijing. This evening you will enjoy a brilliant Martial Arts Kung Fu spectacular. (B/L/D)

 

Day 5: Beijing

This morning you will visit The Temple of Heaven where emperors presided over prayers and rituals for good weather and bountiful harvests in ancient time. Afternoon experience a very enjoyable bicycle rickshaw tour of a "Hutong". (B/L/D)

 

Day 6: Beijing / Yichang / Yangtze Cruise

morning free at leasure. After lunch fly to Yichang. Yichang city orientation. After dinner, on board the 5 star MS Yangtze One. (B/L/D)

Day 7: Yangtze River Cruise

On-shore excursion will take you on a tour of the Three Gorges Dam site - the largest hydro-electric project in the world. Re-board the MS Yangtze 1 to step through the five stage ship locks and enter the first gorge Xiling Gorge - the longest gorge among the three. This evening enjoy a Captain's Welcome Dinner followed by a Singsing and Dancing Show. (B/L/D)

 

Day 8: Yangtze River Cruise

A local tender will take you from the MS Yangtze One for a fund excursion up the Shennong Stream. You'll board a tradtional wooden pea boat. Local boatmen will paddle you along through this lovely stream. Return to the ship and set sail again toenter the second gorge - Wu Gorge - Later in the afternoon the ship will enter the third gorge - Qutang Gorge, the shortest but the most dramatic of the Yangtze's Three Gorges. (B/L/D)

 

Day 9: Yangtze River Cruise

This morning the ship will dock so that you can enjoy an on-shore excursion to the ghost city of Fengdu. A lift chair will transport you to the top of Mingshan Hill. Return to the ship from the Gates of Hell for a farewell dinner on board. (B/L/D)

 

Day 10: Chongqing / Xian

Disembark at Chongqing in the morning. Visit Erling Park and Chongqing Zoo - home to some celebrity pandas. Fly to Xi'an in the afternoon, where you'll be met and transferred to your hotel. (B/L/D)

Day 11: Xian

Today's first stop - The Terracotta Warriors Museum the burial grounds of Emperor Qingshi Huangdi with its thousands of life-sized warriors and horses assembled to guard his afterlife. After lunch, visit the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Reproduction Factory and the Ancient City Wall. Tonight, you will be treated to a traditional Xi'an special Dumpling Banquet and a Tang Dynasty Show. (B/L/D)

 

Day 12: Xian / Guilin

This morning you'll visit Shaanxi Provincial Museum. After lunch, take an afternoon fight to Guilin. Stop to explore colourful Reed Flute Cave en route to your Guilin hotel. (B/L/D)

Day 13: Guilin

Embark on a tranquil Li River Cruise. Your riverboat will wind its way through Guilin's limestone mountain terrain. Disembark at Yangshuo where you'll have time to enjoy the busy market before heading back to Guilin by coach. This evening you will be treated to a Guilin Folk Dance and Music Show. (B/L/D)

 

Day 14: Guilin / Shanghai

Morning flight to Shanghai. Visit Yu Yuan (Yu Garden) in the heart of old Shanghai, The Bund, People's Square and the Nanjing Road shopping precinct. This evening you will enjoy an Acrobatic Show. (B/L/D)

Day 15: Shanghai

After breakfast, transfer to Shanghai Expo, free time to visit with admission fee included. Your own arrangement of lunch, dinner and return hotel. (B)

**For tours in Jan - Apr, you will be going on an excursion to Zhujiajao, a river-town near Shanghai in the morning time. Afternoon free at leisure. (B/L)

 

Day 16: Shanghai - Hometown Canada

Bid farewell to China and board your plane for your return flight to Canada.
